The Palestinian group Hamas said its negotiators confirmed their readiness to implement an immediate ceasefire with Israel in Gaza
US President Joe Biden in June presented Israel's three-stage proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of all hostages.
Hamas said its negotiators reaffirmed their readiness for an "immediate ceasefire in Gaza" based on a previous US offer without new conditions from either side. This was reported on Wednesday, Reuters reports.
According to the agency, the negotiations have so far failed to reach an agreement to end the 11-month-old conflict.
"Among the unresolved issues is the control over the Philadelphia Corridor on the border of Gaza with Egypt," the journalists point out.
CIA Director William Burns, the US's chief negotiator on Gaza, said a more detailed ceasefire proposal would be presented in the coming days.
US President Joe Biden's previous proposal, put forward in June, called for a three-phase ceasefire in exchange for the release of Israeli hostages.
The Israeli military found the bodies of six hostages taken by Hamas militants in October 2023 in tunnels under the Gaza Strip.
