The crossover has changed inside and out, plus it got an upgraded 1.5 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission in all versions. On the pre-restyling model, the automatic was available only in combination with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive crossovers relied on the DSG “robot”.
The Volkswagen Taos crossover, which shares roots with the Skoda Karoq, has been updated for the US market. The model has changed the design of the front, in particular the bumper and the radiator grille, and LED headlights have become standard equipment for all versions. For an additional fee, you can get a light-up jumper, as well as adaptive AFS optics. At the back, the Taos now has a full-width lamp and an illuminated logo. Bright Moss Green, Monterey Blue Pearl and Monument Gray shades have been added to the color palette. Depending on the execution, the diameter of the wheels varies from 17 to 19 inches.
In the interior of the Taos there is a completely different front panel. The central display has a diagonal of eight inches by default, but the touch-sensitive climate control unit is only available on SE versions and above. In addition, noise insulation has been improved, finishing materials and colors have been revised. In simple Taos, the upholstery of the seats is fabric, in medium models - from CloudTex material. Leather is only available in the SEL trim, and two color schemes are offered: black and gray or the new dark blue.
The engine is a 1.5 EA211 turbo engine. It received new piston rings, fuel injectors, a turbocharger housing and an enlarged intercooler. As a result, the power has increased from the current 160 to 176 horsepower. The unit is combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It was installed on front-wheel drive Taos before, but on all-wheel drive it replaced the seven-speed "robot" DSG. In the showrooms of American dealers, the updated crossovers will appear before the end of the year. Prices will be announced later. Now the model costs from 23 dollars.
