Ukrainian pensioners can receive significant fines when applying for benefits. Such a risk exists if a person forgets or intentionally fails to provide all information about the property status, informs Know.UA.
For example, in the Ternopil Oblast, an elderly Ukrainian was fined almost 12 hryvnias for illegally obtaining benefits.
As reported by the online publication ternopillive, the pensioner purchased real estate - a non-residential building worth more than 80 thousand hryvnias - on the eve of writing an application for registration of benefits. Because of this, he did not have the right to receive assistance.
At the court, the accused partially admitted his guilt and confirmed that when filling out the declaration to receive benefits, he deliberately did not indicate the expenses in the amount of 80 hryvnias for the purchase of a non-residential building (shop) and thus illegally received assistance from the state.
At the same time, the employees of the social protection bodies, after receiving the application from the pensioner, did not check the data in the state registers for inaccuracies and granted benefits. It is noted that the pensioner returned the illegally received payments, but this did not save him from punishment. The court imposed a fine on the man in the amount of 11560 hryvnias.
