An ancient Greek or Roman cosmetic accessory among antediluvian stones was recently found in Kilia by researcher and local historian Oleg Kurnosov. As always, a lover of antiques, Told me about it on Facebook, reports the news agency "Yug.Today".
"Ancient beauties ground seashells in such dishes, thereby making pearl powder, which was then applied for centuries. Among the ancient Greeks, Romans, or Slavs, such an object had its own name. One of my acquaintances (now living in Sumy) from Kerch (former Pantikopeia - the capital of the Bosporus kingdom in ancient Greek times in the Northern Black Sea region) found an identical thing there, exactly similar to this one, but even with the remains of mother-of-pearl. When I looked closely, I also saw a small trace of shine on the one I found. That is, there is no doubt that women and girls who have lived here since ancient times, in addition to sophisticated jewelry, used natural cosmetics made by themselves," the researcher noted.
According to him, it is noteworthy that in the same place he found several fibulas (pins), a bead and a bronze poncho, which women usually wove into their long braids.
"Now you can easily imagine that attractive, long-haired girl from the ancient city who, decorating herself in this place more than two thousand years ago, lost her favorite cosmetic bag," Oleg Kurnosov added.
