In the Kharkiv region, fighters of the Iron Brigade shot down a high-altitude Russian drone in an aerial battle for the first time.
This was reported by the 3rd separate tank Iron Brigade on Monday, September 9.
"It happened on September 7 over Kharkiv Oblast. As soon as the enemy UAV Orlan-10 was detected, a group of Ravens of the anti-aircraft missile and artillery division rushed to the given area," the brigade emphasized.
After the Russian drone was detected, the group determined its course and altitude together with the border guards.
The military noted that the operation was difficult due to the high altitude of the drone, which exceeded three kilometers, and its maneuvers.
"But thanks to the skill and coordinated actions of the Raven group, the reconnaissance drone was caught at an altitude of 3620 meters and destroyed," the report says.
The Iron Brigade reminded that the Orlan-10 is an extremely dangerous drone. The drone can fly 600 kilometers, climb five kilometers, and have a range of 120 kilometers.
Orlan-10 detects targets and adjusts fire, intercepts radio communications, blocks mobile communication, "breaks" the GPS signal, and also drops ammunition from a low altitude.
