A resident of Luben was carrying two grenades, one of which he threw into a crowd near a local supermarket, the National Police reported. The investigation was complicated by the fact that the suspect received life-threatening injuries.
In the evening of September 8, three men were injured by the explosion of a grenade thrown into the crowd by an unknown man. The suspect was soon found, his identity was established, but he died at that moment. The press service of the State Police of the Poltava region told about the details of the extraordinary event that took place in the city of Lubny.
The press service of the National Police reported that the incident happened around 23 p.m. On September 8, on Monastirska Street, not far from the local supermarket. According to witnesses, an unknown man approached the store and threw a grenade at a group of people standing at the entrance. As a result of the explosion, three men - 31-year-old, 41-year-old and 42-year-old - received shrapnel wounds. The victims were hospitalized with serious injuries. The investigative team arrived at the scene and began searching for the bomber: they suspected a 53-year-old resident of Luben. Later, the suspect was found, but he was dead: the body was injured as if from a grenade explosion, the police said.
In the letter of the law enforcement officers, it is indicated that they have opened proceedings under Art. 15 and Art. 115 (attempted murder): This applies to victims. Regarding the death of a person - another proceeding under Art. 115 (intentional murder). The details of the case are being clarified, the department's press service explained. Necessary investigative actions and examinations are carried out.
The National Police published a video taken at the scene of the events. We see the area in front of the supermarket covered with broken glass. There are ambulances nearby, which provide assistance to the victims. The agency did not disclose the name of the deceased and possible reasons for his act.
