In August 2024, the Ukrainian light commercial vehicle (LCV) market continued to demonstrate its importance: 5500 units were sold in various segments. These vehicles are essential for small and medium-sized businesses. This was reported by the Institute of Car Market Research.
The dynamics of the LCV market in August showed different trends in different categories. Domestic resale accounted for the majority of transactions at 69,5%, while imported used vehicles accounted for 21,3%, new imported vehicles accounted for 8,1% and locally manufactured or modified vehicles accounted for 1%. The total share of new cars in this segment was 9,1%.
In the domestic resale market, cargo vans remain the most popular type, followed by cargo-passenger versions and flatbed trucks. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter led the market with 535 units sold, followed by the Renault Master and Ford Transit. A total of 3812 transactions were recorded in this category.
In the category of used imports, the car fleet of Ukraine was replenished with 1170 cars. Similar to the domestic market, cargo vans dominated, with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter again in the lead, followed by the Renault Master and Volkswagen Crafter.
In total, 500 new light commercial vehicles appeared on Ukrainian roads in August, of which 444 were imported and 56 were manufactured or modified on the territory of Ukraine. The Renault Master was the clear leader among the new LCVs, with more than 100 units sold. Renault Express and Fiat Doblo have also contributed significantly to this segment.
The LCV market in Ukraine shows a significant preference for cars with diesel engines, which account for 85% of used LCVs (both domestic and imported) and 98% of new LCVs. Gasoline vehicles had a small share, while electric LCVs accounted for only 2,2% in the used segment and the same share in the new segment.
