Ketchup is an incredibly popular sauce around the world, which is added to a large number of dishes. On its basis, sauces for pasta are prepared or simply complement other side dishes and dishes. You can buy ketchup in the store after carefully studying the composition of the product. And you can prepare it at home with the addition of apples - and you will be sure of the taste, quality and composition of your own sauce.
Tomato ketchup with apples - recipe
To prepare such a dish, you will need 3 kilograms of tomatoes, 300 grams of peeled apples, 300 grams of onions, 200 grams of sugar, 1 tablespoon of salt, 70 milliliters of vinegar, hot pepper, 2 bay leaves and 10 peas of black pepper and a little allspice.
First, you need to cut the tomatoes, and then pour 50 milliliters of water. The next step is to boil them over moderate heat for an hour. Apples and onions should be peeled, and then passed through a meat grinder. Add the mass to the tomatoes on the stove and cook everything together for another hour and a half. The resulting mass must be passed through a sieve to remove the remains of vegetables.
To the same mass, add salt and pepper, sugar, as well as other favorite spices to your own taste. After that, continue to cook the hot mass for another 15 minutes. The pepper you added must be removed after that. Place ready ketchup in sterilized jars and close with clean lids. Pour the ketchup into small jars, because such a sauce cannot be stored for a long time even in the refrigerator in its open form.
