The patent for the technology was discovered by users of social networks: it was published by the US Patent and Trademark Office on September 6, 2024. The system will consist of a wall unit and a charging panel installed in the floor: that is, the owner of an electric car will be able to simply drive into his garage, and charging will begin automatically. It is expected that Tesla will demonstrate the know-how that other manufacturers cannot boast of at the robotaxi premiere.

Last year, Tesla confirmed that it was working on an inductive charging system. Investments in development amounted to 76 million dollars. Since such charging does not require manipulation of wires - that is, human intervention - it is logical to assume that it will be demonstrated at the premiere of the robotic taxi, scheduled for October 10, if, of course, the presentation is not postponed again.

Cybertruck could be the next to get wireless charging. Internal documents state that the electric pickup was equipped with inductive receivers in advance.

If the assumptions are correct, Tesla could be the first electric car manufacturer to master the new technology. In recent years, it has been tested by several companies, such as Volvo, but none has yet turned the idea into reality, and some have abandoned it altogether.

It is worth noting that in the summer of 2023, Tesla bought the German company Wiferion, which specializes in wireless charging devices. Already in October, the American manufacturer got rid of the recent acquisition, but kept several engineers from Wiferion on its staff.
