The Stellantis concern announced plans to invest $406 million in three industrial facilities in Michigan. Most of the funding goes to Sterling Heights Assembly, which will build the Ram 1500 REV pickup truck. The electric pickup truck was unveiled at the New York Auto Show in 2023 and will arrive in dealerships at the end of this year.
The Ram 1500 REV will be offered with massive 168 and 229 kWh batteries. The first should allow the model to travel up to 563 km on a single charge, and the second will increase this figure to 805 km. When the batteries are flat, the 350 kW DC fast charger can provide a range of 177 km in just 10 minutes.
The pickup is built on the STLA Frame frame architecture and is equipped with a two-motor system with a capacity of 654 hp. and a torque of 840 Nm. A pair of electric motors will allow the model to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4,5 seconds.
The Sterling Heights Assembly plant will also build the new Ram 1500 Ramcharger. The range-extended pickup has a 92kWh battery that powers a 663bhp dual-motor all-wheel drive system. However, it is more notable for having a "stock" 3,6-liter V6 that acts as a generator. This allows the truck to have a range of up to 1110 km.
The concern is also preparing an electrified Jeep Wagoneer for production. The company is not talking about details yet, but announced that this model is "one of four electrified Jeeps that will be released by the brand by the end of 2025."
