In the US, it was emphasized that the officials prevented the conduct of transparent elections and hid the true results of the voting.
The United States has announced sanctions and visa restrictions against 16 officials linked to the regime of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela over their involvement in rigging the presidential election. This was reported by the US State Department on Thursday, September 12.
The sanctions hit the heads of Venezuela's National Electoral Council, the Supreme Court of Justice and the Maduro-linked National Assembly.
According to the US Treasury Department, these officials obstructed transparent elections and hid the true results of the vote.
In addition to the sanctions, the State Department imposed visa restrictions on these officials.
After the announcement of the results of the presidential elections, spontaneous rallies began in the country. Their members believe that the authorities falsified the results of the vote in favor of Maduro.
