Some members of the American administration have already changed their opinion regarding the prohibition of the Armed Forces to strike targets deep in Russian territory.
The Times newspaper writes about this with reference to sources in the British government. According to them, US President Joe Biden and other employees of the White House should be convinced of the need for such a decision. It is likely that the issue will be resolved before the meeting of world leaders at the UN General Assembly in New York. It is scheduled for September 22-23.
"One of the Whitehall sources suggested that some representatives of the US administration have changed their minds, but they still have to convince President Biden and others", the publication writes.
Great Britain and France support Ukraine's use of long-range missiles. But Kyiv needs US permission for technical reasons related to targeting.
Earlier, Axios journalist Juliegrace Brufke reported that the United States will allow the Armed Forces to fire long-range ATACMS missiles deep into Russia. According to her, the chairman of the committee on foreign affairs of the US House of Representatives, Michael McCaul, said that the permission will be handed over to the country's secretary of state, Anthony Blinken, during his visit to Kyiv.
By the way, US President Joe Biden does not rule out that Ukraine can get permission to strike Russia with long-range weapons. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. Blinken said the U.S. has made sure Ukraine "has everything it needs and in time to be effective in repelling Russian aggression" since the February 2022 Russian invasion.
