Today, many products on store shelves are positioned as healthy. But in reality, not everything is so simple. Sometimes they can be more harmful than candies and other sweets.
We all know that sweets are bad for teeth and health in general. This was confirmed by nutritionist Trista Best. If you eat too much sugar, you will gain weight, develop tooth decay, and risk diabetes and heart disease.
But there are products that are considered "healthy", but harm the body quite a lot. Here is their list.
Dried fruits Most often, they contain a lot of sugar and calories. They are also quite small in size, so it is very easy to eat more than you need. Choose fresh fruits instead of dried fruits.
Muesli. It may contain too many harmful fats and sugar. Therefore, if you still want to take such a product for breakfast, choose an option with a low sugar content, consisting of healthy fats and whole grains.
Energy bars. Among the minuses of such bars - a huge amount of fats and carbohydrates in them. Choose similar bars if they contain little sugar and are made from whole grains.
Cereal bars. MIDSS certified nutritionist and master of public health Olena Wheeler says that many of these bars have more sugar than chocolate bars. And fiber in them is just as little.
Frozen yogurt. Many varieties of such products contain more sugar than simple ice cream and ordinary candies.
Canned soup. It contains a lot of sodium, little (or no) fiber or protein. All this increases the risk of developing obesity and insulin resistance.
Low-fat salad dressing. Usually, the main ingredient of such dressings is butter. They also contain a lot of omega-6 fatty acids (which lead to inflammation), sugar.
