There is no one-size-fits-all solution to longevity. However, there is a simple product that experts recommend to include in the diet of those who want to live longer. It's a fish.

An international study conducted by a group of scientists from the University of Wolverhampton (Great Britain), as well as their colleagues from China, the United States and other countries, showed that many elderly people who consume more fish have a reduced risk of death. The results of the work were published in the European Journal of Nutrition.

Scientists studied the data of 4165 participants over the age of 60, including information about their diet and health status. The average age of the experiment participants was 72 years. They were observed for several years.

The study found that elderly people without dementia who ate fish at least once a week or less had a lower risk of death than those who did not eat fish. It was even lower in those who ate fish twice a week or more often. No such connection was noted in people with dementia. At the same time, eating fish, as indicated in another study cited by scientists, reduces the risk of dementia.

"Fish consumption in old age reduces all-cause mortality in people without dementia," the researchers conclude. They also advise older people to increase the amount of fish in their diet before they develop dementia - this simple step can prevent the disease and prolong life.
