We help Ukraine and Moldova with electricity, but the allies should share this burden, - Romanian Energy Minister Sebastian Burduža.
The minister noted that Romania fully supports both countries, but now energy prices in Eastern Europe have become three times higher than in the West.
Therefore, Romania, together with Bulgaria and Greece, will apply to the European Commission for the introduction of compensatory measures.
"We should sit down and call a spade a spade: we are in maximum solidarity with Ukraine, not to mention the Republic of Moldova. But, at the same time, we cannot and it is wrong to bear all the expenses ourselves. We demand fair treatment from Brussels so that everyone can take part in these efforts," Hotnews quoted the minister as saying. ro.
When asked what he would specifically ask Brussels for, the minister indicated among the options:
- increase in investments;
- postponement of closing dates of coal-fired power plants;
- extension of the limit size of accounts for domestic consumers after March 31, 2025.
