Daily tension and stress worsen the psychological state and negatively affect the overall quality of life. The psychologist explained how chronic stress occurs and why it is necessary to deal with it.
The expert specified that, in general, stress is a natural reaction to significant changes in life. At the same time, stress, depending on its impact on a person, can be accompanied by useful tension (eustress) and negative pressure (distress).
The first type of stress is short-lived and does not harm a person. Such tension often arises when settling into a workplace or on the eve of a long-awaited move. According to the psychologist, eustress even increases work capacity and helps to cope with tasks.
Distress, on the contrary, continues for a very long time and often develops into a chronic form. It is necessary to fight with it, because this state is unproductive, the expert said.
In the fight against chronic stress, the doctor recommended normalizing the daily routine and getting a good night's sleep, avoiding aggressive informational content before going to bed.
Physical activity also helps fight chronic stress, so the psychologist advised not to neglect sports, choosing the kind of exercise you like.
Psychologist Nichova also suggested arranging emotional relief in order not to accumulate all negative emotions in oneself. It is important to share them with loved ones, bring them up for discussion, do not be ashamed to ask for help. If there is no such possibility, you can contact a specialist, noted the psychologist.
