The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, stated that it is necessary to first make a decision on the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine, and then to "discuss territorial issues", at the same time supporting the peace initiatives of China and Brazil.
As reported by Ukrinform with reference to Kazinform, this was stated by the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev during a meeting with Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz on Monday in Astana.
"The possibility of achieving peace still exists. It is necessary to carefully consider all peace initiatives of various states and come to a decision to stop hostilities, and then proceed to the discussion of territorial issues. In our opinion, the peace plan between China and Brazil deserves support," he said.
Tokayev stated that "cooperation is developing within the framework of strategic partnership and alliance" between the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan, and at the same time indicated that "in Kazakhstan, they treat the Ukrainian people and their unique culture with genuine sympathy." "There have never been disagreements between our states. The embassy of our country continues to function in Kyiv," the President of Kazakhstan added.
