Aviation noise has been added by scientists to the list of factors that increase the risk of myocardial infarction.

This was the conclusion reached by employees of the University Medical Center in Mainz, Germany, after a series of experiments.

The team exposed the mice to the noise of aircraft engines at a noise level of 72 to 85 dB, which is comparable to the noise level of airplane engines during takeoff. However, laboratory animals were kept under such conditions 24 hours a day for four days.

As a result, scientists found that loud noise caused inflammatory cells to stick to the walls of blood vessels, which led to impaired cardiac function and increased damage to the heart muscle.

It will be recalled that data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that a myocardial infarction occurs every 40 seconds only in the United States. In Australia, people aged 25 and over have around 160 heart attacks every day, including the same myocardial infarction.
