The policeman told when drivers in Ukraine can drive a red light without a fine

Running a red light is one of the most serious traffic violations. For this, they can be fined 510 hryvnias (Part 2, Article 122 of the Code of Criminal Procedure) or 1445 hryvnias, and may also be deprived of their driver's license for a period of six months to a year (Part 5, Article 122 of the Code of Criminal Procedure). But there are situations when a driver who ran a red or yellow light may not be punished even with a warning. An experienced police officer explained these cases, reports SUV News.

First of all, we are talking about situations when the traffic controller controls the traffic at the intersection. His signals are prioritized, so the driver may not pay attention to the traffic lights if the policeman allows him to move.

Also, driving through a red or yellow light is not considered a violation if the driver entered the intersection when the light was green. Other drivers, in accordance with the traffic rules, must give him the opportunity to complete the maneuver.

Also, the driver will not be fined for running a red light if he cannot stop the car safely without applying emergency braking.
