Gundyaev does not like the prospects for the development of artificial intelligence
The Moscow Patriarch warned about the "most terrible consequences" of the introduction of artificial intelligence.
Humanity can expect catastrophic consequences due to the development of technology in isolation from the strengthening of people's moral feelings. This was said by the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill (Gundyaev) of Moscow on Wednesday, September 11.
"If humanity loses religious faith, especially in the conditions of increasing technologies associated with the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI), then we are really entering the era of the apocalypse," he told a cultural forum in St. Petersburg.
The Patriarch believes that the development of humanity can be viable only if people's faith and moral sense grow at the same time.
"If faith and the moral component will weaken, then we can expect the most terrible consequences of the introduction of artificial intelligence. We are approaching an apocalyptic time, we all need to realize this clearly," he noted and called the only way out "faith in God."
Kirill also stated that it is inadmissible for artificial intelligence to subjugate humans.
"If artificial intelligence reaches the level where it can reproduce other AIs, there will be a real danger to the existence of human civilizations," the patriarch added.
