New Toyota Prius LE broke the Guinness World Record for the lowest fuel consumption when driving from the US west coast to the east coast, showing an average result of 2,5 l/100 km. And the mileage with a full tank was about 1700 km.

Wayne Gerdes' journey was from Los Angeles City Hall to New York City Hall, the length of the trip was 5168,7 km. To cross the country, he climbed up to 2100m and passed through areas such as the Mojave Desert, where temperatures rose to more than 40°C.

Toyota emphasized that the achieved fuel efficiency indicator is not typical, as the declared consumption of the Prius in normal mode is about 4 l/100 km. Gerdes gave some advice. He recommends starting slowly and gradually pressing the accelerator pedal. It is also important to release the accelerator pedal in advance when approaching a stop, using the car's inertia as much as possible.

"The Prius has amazed us all for the past 23 years, and frankly, it continues to amaze us today," said Toyota Vehicle Marketing group vice president Michael Tripp. "The world record for the lowest fuel consumption for us is another proof that the Prius is truly an engineering marvel."
