SpaceX has created a 120-meter Starship rocket for a flight to Mars
Now the biggest problem is the cost of delivering a ton of cargo to Mars, which is approximately 1 billion dollars, noted Elon Musk.
The first flights to Mars can take place in two years, and the landing of the first people on this planet - in four years. This was announced the day before by the American billionaire, founder of SpaceX company Elon Musk on the social network X.
According to him, first unmanned ships will be sent to Mars to check the reliability of the landing. This will be possible in two years, when the next window for flights from Earth to Mars opens.
"If these landings are successful, the first crewed flights to Mars will take place in four years. After that, the number of flights will grow exponentially with the goal of building a self-sufficient city in about 20 years," Musk wrote.
According to him, the biggest problem now is the cost of delivering a ton of cargo to Mars, which is approximately $1 billion.
"In order to build a self-sufficient city there, the cost needs to be increased to 100 USD per ton, so the technology has to be 10 times better. It is extremely difficult, but not impossible," the businessman believes.
