Engine oil spillage is one of the most difficult types of floor contamination in the garage. The thick, viscous liquid is not very easy to clean with ordinary detergents, and in the process of cleaning, you will most likely even spread the contamination further.
But cleaning grease can be greatly simplified with the help of one inexpensive food product. As OBOZ.UA found out, it is about oatmeal.
Flakes work well due to their hygroscopicity. Fiber, which is abundant in oats, absorbs liquids of various properties well. All you have left after treating the stain is to sweep them up and dispose of them.
So, to remove a fresh spot of motor oil, take a packet of oatmeal and sprinkle it over the contaminated area so that it is completely covered. Leave the product for 10 minutes so that it absorbs all the spilled substance. Usually this is enough to remove the grease. But if necessary, the procedure can be repeated.
After that, collect the flakes with a broom. The remains of the lubricant will be quite easy to clean with the help of warm soapy water and a mop. In the same way, you can clean asphalt, concrete tiles and other types of hard surfaces from oil stains.
Experts advise to always immediately remove grease stains from surfaces, especially concrete. After all, this substance can make concrete prone to cracking over time. If you know that in some places you have grease leaking from time to time, it is better to cover it with cardboard. It is easy to remove if a stain appears.
