Peskov "put the brakes on" Erdogan's words about Crimea
Russia will continue to develop "partnership relations" with Turkey, despite the words of its leader, Dmitry Peskov assured.
The issue of the status of Crimea remains among the differences between Russia and Turkey. Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov said this at a briefing on Friday, September 13, commenting on the recent statement of Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"This topic belongs to the category of differences between us and our Turkish friends. We will not stop our purposeful attempts to explain our point of view to our Turkish friends and colleagues," he said.
Peskov believes that "later this will allow Ankara to better understand us, better understand - and agree with our explanations."
The Kremlin spokesman assured that Russia will not react to Erdogan's words and will continue to develop "partnership relations" with Turkey.
As you know, on September 11, Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a video address to the participants of the Crimean Platform summit in Kyiv. He stated that Crimea should return to Ukraine in accordance with the norms of international law.
