The hostess, who returned after a vacation, was handed a souvenir bag with the ashes of someone else's animal at the crematorium.

A story worthy of the pen of "the king of horrors" Stephen King happened to Nikki Knight from Newby, North Yorkshire, who was on holiday with her husband and four children in Turkey, says Фокус.

While the family was enjoying the Dalaman resort, neighbors from England informed the woman that her beloved five-year-old cat, Ted, had drowned in the pool. They showed the animal's black and white body via video link to confirm the fact of its death.

"I had to break the news to my husband and our four children and we were all absolutely devastated because Ted is a huge person and a beloved member of the family," Nikki told reporters.

When the initial shock wore off, the woman called the Heavenly Pets crematorium, arranging for them to collect her pet's body and cremate it.

What was the shock of the neighbors when, four days later, Ted calmly entered the cat door of their house. They immediately called Nikki in Turkey to share the news of Ted's miraculous "resurrection."

"At first I didn't believe my neighbor. I had to get her to FaceTime me so I could make sure Ted was really alive. I paid £130 to cremate someone else's cat,' she admitted.

Back home after her vacation, Nikki went to a pet crematorium where she was given a keepsake bag containing the ashes of an unidentified cat with the words "Not Dead Ted," a framed paw print, nose prints, a small jar with a fur sample, a card with words of sympathy, a bag of forget-me-not seeds and an official cremation certificate.

The family has not been able to find the owner of the dead cat and believes it must be a local farm cat, but no one has yet claimed its ashes.

Crematorium staff later said they would donate the cremation fee to a local cat rescue.

Meanwhile, Ted is enjoying life at home and is unaware of the family's emotional upheaval.
