The Gaim-100 launch vehicle launched the Chamran-1 satellite into orbit
The main task of the satellite is to test hardware and software systems to confirm the technology of maneuvering in orbit.
Iran launched the Chamran-1 research satellite using a Gaim-100 launch vehicle. The spacecraft entered orbit at an altitude of 550 kilometers, the IRNA agency reported on Saturday, September 14.
The satellite, weighing around 60 kg, is said to have been developed by Iran Electronic Industry (IEI) in collaboration with the Iran Aeronautics and Space Institute and private science-intensive companies.
"Its primary mission is to test hardware and software systems to validate the technology for maneuvering in orbit at altitude and in phase," the statement said.
It is noted that the first signal from the satellite in orbit has already been received.
In the same month, Iran launched its own Soraya satellite. It was launched into orbit by a three-stage solid-fuel launch vehicle Qaem-100.
