As reported by Carscoops, Geely, like other Chinese manufacturers, seeks to expand its presence in other global markets, starting with Europe. During a recent speech in Frankfurt, Germany, Geely Auto Group Vice President Li Chuanhai was asked if the brand would build a plant in the region.
The head of the company replied that the issue has not yet been resolved. It is known that the Chinese automaker held talks with the Polish government several times. At the same time, Deputy Minister of Development and Regional Policy Jan Shishko said that there is a possibility that a new plant for the production of electric cars will be built in the country.
Nothing is known about the success of the negotiations at the moment, but according to rumors, the Polish government does not consider Geely to be an ideal partner. Because of this, the company is looking at other options across the continent. This was stated by the executive director of the Geely Lynk & Co brand in Europe, Nicholas Appelgren, in an interview with Reutres.
It is known that Geely recently opened a new base in Frankfurt, where it will test and develop 13 new models of electric cars to test their efficiency and compliance with European certification standards.
