According to the head of the Danish Ministry of Defense, Trolls Lund Poulsen, this was the first agreement that his country concluded on the production of Ukrainian artillery systems.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine have already received 18 Bogdan self-propelled artillery units, the production of which was financed by Denmark in July. The installations were made after two months.
This was reported in the Danish Ministry of Defense.
The head of the country's defense department, Trols Lund Poulsen, made a corresponding statement during a speech at the Yalta European Strategy (YES).
"This was the first agreement we concluded. In July, we submitted an order to [Ukrainian manufacturers] for the production of 18 Bogdan artillery systems, and this weekend they were already handed over to the Ukrainian Armed Forces," he said.
According to the Danish minister, the production of weapons in Ukraine is much cheaper compared to their purchase in Western countries.
Ex-Minister of Strategic Industry Oleksandr Kamyshyn noted that every Ukrainian enterprise can produce more weapons. The only thing required for this is sufficient funding.
The Bogdana self-propelled artillery system is a Ukrainian self-propelled artillery installation of 155 mm caliber, which is in accordance with NATO standards. The crew is five people, the maximum speed is up to 80 km/h, the maximum firing range is up to 60 km.
Production started back in 2015 at the Kramatorsk heavy machine tool construction plant. The howitzer was used for the first time in 2022 during the battles for the Snake Island. In 2023, it officially entered service with the Armed Forces.
