In the summer of 2025, the negative impact of the war on the economy of the Russian Federation will be very noticeable, and Russia's status as a superpower will be under threat.
In 2025, financial and economic problems and shortages in the army will begin in Russia. In general, the Kremlin considers the summer or the second half of 2025 or the beginning of 2026 to be the turning point of the war. On Saturday, September 14, during the Yalta European Strategy (YES) meeting, the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense Kyrylo Budanov stated this.
According to him, the economic recession in Russia is already "painful and palpable", but they are struggling with its consequences.
"But this is far from the peak. They predict that around the summer of 2025, the negative impact on the economy will begin to be very noticeable for their country," said Budanov.
He noted that it is in the summer of 2025 that the Russians will face a shortage in the army. The leadership of the aggressor state will face a dilemma, either to announce mobilization or to reduce the intensity of hostilities, which may be critical for them.
Also, according to Budanov, it is extremely important for the Russians to end active hostilities by the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026.
"These are their calculations. If they do not come out as conditional winners by this time, then for the near future, about 30 years, they will lose the opportunity to be a superpower. Then there are two countries: China and the USA. And the maximum that Russia can count on is regional leadership, which does not suit it," Budanov said, adding that the Russians will try to do everything to win.
