Berlin does not give Ukraine the Taurus, but it does not mind if the Armed Forces hit Russia with foreign missiles

Germany never transferred its Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. However, Berlin is not opposed to the Armed Forces striking the territory of the Russian Federation with weapons provided by other partners. Tagesschau writes about this with reference to Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

"International law allows it," Pistorius said about long-range strikes deep into Russia.

At the same time, he emphasized, the consent of the countries that provided Ukraine with these weapons is still needed here. Pistorius did not dare to assess the position of the United States and Great Britain, which still have not lifted restrictions on the use of missiles provided to Ukraine.

Pistorius also rejected the threats of Vladimir Putin, who calls the possible authorization of strikes on the Russian Federation an escalation.

"Putin's threats are Putin's threats, nothing more needs to be said. He threatens when he wants and tempts when he deems it necessary," says the German minister.

Ukraine is forbidden to attack the Russian Federation

As I wrote, the epic with the lifting of the ban on strikes by Western missiles on the territory of the Russian Federation continues. Officials of the United States and Great Britain did not give clear confirmation of the lifting of restrictions. And the Western press gives contradictory information.

So, the other day, the British edition of The Guardian, citing sources in the British government, reported that London has apparently already made a decision to allow Ukraine to strike with Western weapons at targets deep in the recognized territory of Russia. It seems that this should be announced publicly already this week.

Instead, Politico writes that the ban has yet to be lifted.
