Italian swimmer Thomas Ceccone, who won the gold medal in the 100m backstroke, was spotted sleeping on a towel in the park of the Olympic Village.
The photo was taken and published on the social network by the Saudi rower Hussein Alireza.
Checcone repeatedly complained about uncomfortable beds and general living conditions. "There is no air conditioning in the village, it's hot, the food is bad," - said sportsman to the correspondents of The Sun. "Many athletes left for this reason. This is not an excuse, but a reality that perhaps not everyone knows. Usually, when I'm at home, I always sleep during the day. And it is impossible to do this in the village."
The organizers of the Olympic Games in Paris have not yet provided official comments on the situation, but it is clear that these complaints need attention and a solution to ensure a comfortable stay of the athletes during the competition.
Thomas Ceccone compared the organization of the competition in Tokyo and in Paris, and it is not in favor of the latter: "In 2021, everything was done much better, it's hard to beat the Japanese in this." At the Olympics in Tokyo, Ceccone won silver in the 4x100m freestyle and bronze in the 4x100m medley.
