The weight of gold jewelry is 18 carats.

A Texas woman redefined the concept of a "hidden gem" after discovering a 190-year-old bracelet worth $25 at a thrift store.

About this write Newsweek.

She flaunted her find in a video that has garnered more than 1,6 million views on TikTok.

"I was particularly excited by the rarity of it," Jess Pena told the publication about the trinket she came across while shopping at a charity.

Pena, an antique jewelry dealer, often rummages through thrift stores, but says she never expected to find the bracelet in question, which she says dates from "late Georgian to early Victorian, circa 1835."

The 18-karat gold piece reportedly flaunts an "enameled portrait bracelet with oval shield links and serrated detailing."

If that wasn't enough, the bracelet also featured several "harlequin-style" jewels, and the shields were emblazoned with the name of the respective Swiss canton (an administrative division similar to a US state).

"These bracelets were made to celebrate the clothing and heritage of the regions of Switzerland," she explained. "18 carats and above are rarely found in large quantities in older jewelry because usually someone has sold them."

While the thrift store valued this luxury wrist accessory at $5000, an antique guru says it could fetch anywhere from $12 to $000.

Despite the staggering cost, Jessa didn't buy the bracelet. However, her video inspired a friend from Houston and a lover of antiques to go shopping, after which she also came across a bejeweled trinket.

"She thought that was enough of a sign from the universe and decided to buy it, which is why I'm so happy," enthused Pena, who added that her friend will appreciate it and add it to her collection.
