A unique Ferrari F23 will be sold at Silverstone auction on August 40 - the only one in the world with the 12 V5.5 engine from the Ferrari 550 Maranello instead of the standard 8 twin-turbocharged V2.9. Auctioneers call the preliminary value of the car about 700 thousand dollars.
This 1992 model has an interesting history. Used for factory crash tests, its remains were bought by businessman Stefano Sebastiani, owner of the Simpson team, which participated in European races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The F40 chassis was transferred to the Simpson Motorsport studio, where the mechanics created a unique racing car based on it.
The car received a lightweight new body, safety cage, revised suspension and alternative wheels. A V12 was installed, increasing power from 478 to 485 horsepower. The engine is paired with a Newland manual transmission.
