If the room is not very large, you can make it more spacious by using the size and location of the windows. However, replacing windows with larger ones or adding new ones can be expensive. So what are some simple tricks to make small windows look bigger?
RBC-Ukraine (Styler project) has prepared tips on how to arrange your windows so that they seem larger, and the whole room visually becomes more spacious and bright.
Raise the curtains higher
To create the illusion of height for your windows, hang a curtain rod higher than the window. This will elongate the look of the window, drawing attention to the ceiling.
So that the ceiling does not seem too low, install the cornice at least 10 centimeters from the ceiling, leaving a little space above the top of the curtains.
Use curtains to the floor
As with tall and wide cornices, floor-to-ceiling curtains will also make your windows appear larger. They add length to the bottom of the windows, incorporating more space into the overall look of the window.
Combine several windows with one cornice
If there is more than one window on the wall, you can create a sense of space by combining them with one set of curtains. Instead of dividing the plane of the wall with several separate cornices, use one cornice for several curtains, allowing them to cover the space between the windows.
Choose wider curtains
To give your windows more width, use a wider cornice and fix the brackets 15 to 30 centimeters outside the window frame. This will create the illusion of a larger window, adding width to the overall look.

Use paint to add height
To achieve a tall, slim look with short windows, paint the wall above and below the window in a color that matches the frame. This will create a vertical band of the color of the frame from floor to ceiling around the window, making it visually larger without unnecessary detail.
Add contrast to the border
In some cases, when the border merges with the background, it can make the windows visually larger. However, bold contrast, especially on the inside edge of the frame, can add depth to your windows and enhance the light that comes through.
A darker frame on a light wall will help the window stand out, creating a more striking look.
Choose a vertical pattern
Patterned curtains can be used to expand the perceived area of a window, adding interest to the look. Pulling the view up and wide helps to make the windows visually larger.
Stripes are a common choice for this illusion, but you can also try geometric patterns like zigzags to elongate the look of the windows.
