The German company HIGHCAT wants to test its drone in Ukraine in August. This is a special drone with a wired data transmission system. HCX is believed to be invulnerable to hostile EW systems.
This is stated in the Forbes article. It is reported that the communication between the operator and the drone is carried out using a fiber optic cable. The company said that the drone was created in view of the events in Ukraine. The team is planning a trip to our country to fix it in a controlled environment against sources of interference, but company co-founder Ian Hartmann said that front-line testing is also possible if there are willing units.
The special strong fiber is unwound during the flight from the coil. The peculiarity is the way the cable is unwound. To avoid entanglement, it seems to "eject" from the drone. The HCX can lift up to 5kg, enough to lift a 10x zoom camera and thermal imager. Data transfer up to 1000 megabits per second.
