Recently, information appeared on social networks that the new version of Tesla Model Y, known as Juniper, will be equipped with a battery with a capacity of 95 kWh. This battery will be installed in versions with an increased range and in performance modifications. Compared to the current model, which has a battery capacity of 75 kWh, this is an increase of more than 26%.
The new model will reportedly offer more efficient power management and improved aerodynamics. Currently available in China, the extended-range and performance versions of the Model Y are equipped with a 78,4 kWh battery pack that provides a CLTC range of 688 km and 615 km, respectively.
For the rear-wheel drive version with a 60 kWh battery, the range is 554 km. With a 95 kWh battery, the new Model Y is expected to be able to travel over 800 km on a single charge.
An image of the updated Model Y was previously released. The car will receive a new design, including more elongated headlights and the absence of fog lights. The rear of the car will be equipped with new through taillights combined with C-shaped lights.
The interior of the Model Y will use elements borrowed from the facelifted Model 3. These include atmospheric lighting throughout the cabin, new finishing materials and a completely redesigned steering wheel. The usual gearshift levers and turn indicators have been removed, instead of them, control will be carried out using the buttons on the steering wheel and the screen. Under the central screen will be placed a panel stylized as carbon.
