Renault Express, the successor to the Dacia Dokker, was a model in the segment of cheap vans. This model was a budget alternative to the Kangoo. The car appeared at dealers about three years ago and now it has to leave the market due to the fault of the European authorities. Production of the van at the plant in Morocco was stopped a few days ago.
The reason for the early release of the car from the market was the GSR 2 standard. It obliges manufacturers to equip their cars with numerous driver assistance systems. And part of these technological innovations could not be implemented in Express, because it is built on the outdated B0+ architecture. Of course, the company could adapt it, but it would require a gigantic investment. And in the end, it was not possible to install all the necessary systems. Accordingly, Renault does not want to spend resources on this. The departure of Express from the market does not mean that Dokker will return here. Dacia made it clear a long time ago that it will no longer sell cheap vans. So there are no alternatives for this affordable model.
