A parable about material goods.
There lived a man who dreamed of a better life. He did not like the house he lived in, the clothes he wore, and everything around him. He asked why someone had everything he could only dream of, and he had none of it, Ukr.Media informs.
"If only I had a nice house, a nice wife, a lot of money, then I would be the happiest," the man thought.
And once he met a wizard.
"I heard your thoughts. I am ready to help you. Say what you want and I will do it,” said the wizard.
The man was delighted and could not believe his luck.
"Is it possible? Just ask and everything will come true? Surely you want something in return, don't you?" asked the man.
But the magician replied that he did not need anything.
“You've been asking for so long I thought you knew exactly what you wanted. Just ask and you will receive."
"Excellent!", the man rejoiced.
"I want a big nice house, a nice wife who can cook, and I want to always have a lot of money."
"Fine. Tonight you will fall asleep, and tomorrow morning you will wake up and you will have all this," answered the wizard.
The next morning, the man really woke up in a big luxurious house. He was met by a smiling beautiful wife, breakfast was already prepared. Everything was perfect. He had money in his bank account, and no matter how much he spent, it was always replenished.
At first, the man could not believe his happiness, he was in seventh heaven. And then the days flew one after another, month after month, and nothing changed in life. He asked:
"What else do I want if I already have everything?".
But at the same time he felt that he had not found the happiness he was looking for. And then he started calling the wizard again.
"Why am I unhappy when I have everything?" he asked when the wizard reappeared.
"I have fulfilled everything you wanted, enjoy your happiness," replied the wizard.
"I can not. I am lonely in a huge house, my beautiful wife does not make me happy, and the money I wanted so much does not bring me satisfaction. Why?" asked the man.
"You asked for a house, but you didn't ask for warmth and comfort in it. You asked for a wife, but you did not ask for love and understanding. You asked for money, but you didn't ask for the freedom, power and joy that it can give," replied the wizard.
The man thought and finally said:
"Thank you, I understand. Now I want it all."
"Well, if you have understood, then go and achieve it yourself," said the wizard and disappeared.
A man woke up in his old house, alone, without a wife or money, but now he knew what he really wanted.
There is something to think about.
