Two and a half years have passed since Toyota presented the GR GT3 Concept at the "home" auto show in Tokyo. The successor to the Lexus RC F has been spotted on tests.

The prototype was spotted testing in Japan at Toyota's Fuji Speedway. Unlike the GR GT3 racing car, which is due to hit the circuits of the ring championship in 2026, the mysterious coupe looks less aggressive. The most noticeable differences between the two are the absence of the huge rear wing and side exhaust, and the front splitter does not protrude as much. The car has conventional wipers and the GR GT3's aggressive diffuser is absent at the rear.

A year ago, Toyota WEC team boss Rob Leupen announced the road version of the new Lexus sports coupe. Presumably, the novelty will receive the designation LFR and will become the successor of the RC F.

The Toyota concept featured a sleek body with a low silhouette and an elongated hood. Camouflaged prototypes spotted testing at Motegi and Fuji Speedway in Japan indicate the company is developing a new Lexus sports car. The racing GR GT3 was spotted a few months ago in Belgium at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, but it looks noticeably more aggressive.

It is still difficult to judge what will be hidden under the hood of the novelty, but we can assume that there is enough space for a powerful V8 with a turbocharger. With the GR GT3 competing in the FIA WEC World Endurance Championship in 2026, Toyota will unveil the race-ready coupe next year. A road version of the coupe under the Lexus brand is expected later.
