The Palestinian Islamic Jihad group named the other four men as its fighters.
A few hours later, a second strike was carried out against another group of armed militants who fired at the servicemen. This was announced by the Israeli military during the operation in Tulkarma, which they called an anti-terrorist operation.
Amid the worsening situation in the Middle East, the US authorities urged Americans to leave Lebanon on any available flight. Britain and Canada made similar statements.
