In August, the first products of the new harvest are already ripe, because there is not much time left until autumn. We enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables and prepare meals with seasonal August products. We have collected recipes for dishes with watermelon and cantaloupe, grapes and apples. And, also, with eggplant, red pepper, corn and honey.

1. Apples and grapes

Early and sweet apples appear in August. They have a lot of vitamin C, B and A. Local grapes also grow. Such products help purify the blood and generally have a good effect on the condition of the skin. What to cook with them?

Fruit salad

Take 2 apples and 200 g of grapes, 1 banana and 100 ml of low-fat yogurt without sugar. Peel the apples and grate them. Cut the banana into rings, and cut the grapes in half. Mix all the fruits and pour yogurt.

Wafers with fruit

Take 50 g of butter, 100 g of grapes and 1 large apple. Puff pastry - 1 sheet, honey to taste and some hazelnuts.

Leave the dough to thaw, cut the grapes in half, and cut the apple into thin strips. Melt butter and mix with honey.

Put parchment paper on a baking sheet, put the oven to heat up to 180 degrees. On the paper, cut the sheet of dough into 4 or 6 parts, cover with honey and butter. Put apples and grapes in the middle and shape the dough into small baskets or envelopes. Chop the nuts and sprinkle them over the puffs. Bake the dessert in the oven for approximately 20 minutes.

2. Melon-based recipes

Melon is sweet, but the sugar in it is easily absorbed. Also, it is rich in folic acid and vitamin C, contains sodium and iron, which is good for the blood. What fresh things to cook with it?

3. Young corn

In addition to vitamins C and B, corn contains phosphorus, iodine, potassium, and copper. It adds vitality to the body. We suggest baking it in the oven, using different variations of marinades. You can bake with garlic, Provencal herbs and oil. With butter, cilantro and lemon juice. With tomato sauce, garlic and hot pepper. With honey, soy sauce and mustard. There are even more options and they can be combined.

You can check the readiness with a fork or a knife - take it out, the husks of the corn will become soft.

4. Red sweet pepper

Fresh pepper is known for its high content of vitamin C, it can be added to salads or eaten simply as a snack. You can marinate in soy sauce, oil or with lemon juice. We offer a variant of stuffed peppers for breakfast:

Cut the pepper in half and clean it. Finely chop the spinach, mix it with raw eggs, rice, salt and other spices. Place this rice filling inside the pepper halves, oiled inside and out. Put on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes at a temperature of 200 degrees.

Meanwhile, mix sour cream with garlic, salt and finely chopped onion. When the pepper is cooked, pour this sauce over it and enjoy the dish immediately.

While the eggplant is marinating, chop the nuts and fry them in a dry pan. Cut the tomato into small cubes, chop the onion and mix them with mustard.

Fry the eggplant pieces until lightly golden and place on a plate. Spread the tomato and mustard over it. Top with roasted nuts.

7. Dishes with fresh honey

Fresh, freshly harvested honey is a special kind of pleasure. It is not desirable to heat it, so it is better to add honey to fresh salads, make sauces based on it. Replace sugar with honey: in cocktails, lemonades, desserts.

You can pour fresh liquid honey over baked apples or add it to a frozen banana to make sweet homemade ice cream. Pour it over cheesecakes, sweet casserole or pancakes.
