Audi plans to produce electric cars without its brand logo in China. The new line of eco-friendly cars, developed jointly with SAIC, will be called Purple and will not have the usual four rings, although the Audi inscription will remain on the body. Such a decision is related to a partnership with a Chinese company and issues of brand image.
The first concept electric car from this line is planned to be presented in November, when Audi will also reveal more information about its future models. According to insiders, by 2030, Audi and SAIC plan to release nine new models of electric cars, created on a jointly developed platform.
Cooperation with SAIC, a long-time partner of Volkswagen, will help Audi to maintain its position in the highly competitive Chinese market. In the first half of 2024, Audi sold less than 10 electric cars in China, while local brands Nio and Zeekr sold about 80 cars each.
