The American site conducted a survey of readers on the topic "The worst sports car". As it usually happens, the exchange of opinions came down to criticism and clarification of relationships. However, some answers were not only elaborate, but also unexpected. For example, Chevrolet Corvette C1, Toyota Supra (A80), iconic Pontiac Trans Am, Ford Mustang II and generally everything that is not Mazda MX-5 made it to the list of the worst sports cars.
Chevrolet
With the Corvette C1, everything is more or less clear: if it weren't for Zora Arkus-Duntov, the icon of the American auto industry would have ended in the first generation. The sports car was scolded for poor build quality, mediocre handling and a problematic engine.
Pontiac Trans Am owners also complained about the engine, but the Ferrari 400 was included in the list because of its appearance. The worst sports cars were also DeLorean DMC-12, models on the GM Kappa platform (Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky) and the British Triumph Stag.
Saturn
Even the original 911-1964 Porsche 1973 was a complete disappointment, according to Jalopnik readers. All the joys of owning a German sports car awaited the owners – from engine problems to oil leaks in the gearbox. Against this background, only the Mazda MX-5 stands out, which, unlike other models, has preserved the original concept - that is, it has remained accessible and fantastically exciting to drive.
