Germany will remain faithful to the policy of supporting Ukraine, and this position was demonstrated by the results of the elections to the European Parliament. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this at a press conference with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Berlin on Tuesday, June 11.

"The European elections gave clear results — the majority of citizens support parties that believe that it is necessary to continue supporting Ukraine. This applies to Germany, but it also applies to other European countries," said the German chancellor.

Scholz noted that Europe needs security and linked it to the policy regarding Ukraine. "Of course, we need security for the future. That is why a reasonable and stable policy is important, that is why we support it for Ukraine. Germany provides the greatest support to Ukraine, and we will remain so," the politician assured.

On June 6-9, European voters voted for the national parties that will represent them in the European Parliament. Far-right parties have somewhat improved their position, but the pro-Ukrainian majority in the European Parliament will remain.
