Recently, the media wrote about the launch of the beta version of the digital content store AltStore PAL, which is an alternative to the App Store. Now it was announced that the platform was officially launched in the European Union and is available to residents of the region.

Note that to interact with AltStore PAL you will have to sign up for a paid subscription worth €1,5 per year. Thanks to this, developers plan to cover the costs associated with paying Apple's Core Technology Fee (CTF). Before installing AltStore PAL, the user is asked several times to confirm that they want to install the app due to App Store restrictions.

After installing the third-party store, the user gets access to two programs from the developer Riley Testut. It is a Delta emulator that allows you to play games for NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, Game Boy Advanced and Nintendo DS, as well as the Clip clipboard manager. The Delta app also hit the App Store this week and can be downloaded outside the EU. In the AltStore PAL Delta can be downloaded for free, but for Clip you will have to pay a contribution to Patreon in the amount of €1.

Interestingly, AltStore PAL is not something new. The fact is that AltStore for iOS has been around since 2019, but installing it on an iPhone required some manipulations related to obtaining a privileged level of access on the device. Now, thanks to the changed legislation of the European Union, the store is officially launched in the region and everyone can interact with it. The site is open to third-party products. Unlike the official App Store, the AltStore assumes that developers will use their own servers and computing power to ensure the functionality of their products.
