How to choose a knitted dress?

Currently, the assortment of fashionable women's clothing stores offers a wide variety of styles and colors of knitted dresses. The most popular cuts include classic, straight, slightly pressed knit dresses that emphasize feminine shapes, as well as looser and even oversized versions. This season's trends are dominated by shades of beige and white, as well as more intense colors such as yellow, orange, red, green, navy and brown. Black dresses are very versatile, and therefore will suit lovers of the classics. Women who like to stand out from the crowd can choose dresses with different patterns, for example: dots, floral or very fashionable animalistic motifs, because they are able to "revive" an outfit in any style.

Regardless of the color and length, all knitted dresses are considered timeless, so you can safely buy several different models without fear that they will quickly go out of fashion. Moreover, knitted dresses can be worn not only in autumn and winter, but also all year round - it all depends on the thickness of the fabric!

When creating fashionable stylizations using knitted dresses, you need to pay attention to several factors:

  1. first - the nature of the event you are going to,
  2. secondly – the features of your figure,
  3. thirdly, the appearance of the dress, its color, patterns, cut, etc.,
  4. fourthly – feeling of own comfort.

Knitted dresses for fuller women

Contrary to the widespread stereotype, not only slender and tall women look good in knitted pencil dresses. Ladies with curvaceous forms can also afford a slightly fitted cut, provided that it skillfully masks the small flaws of the figure. It should be added that the latest collections of fashion brands also include flared knitted dresses of different lengths. You just need to choose them correctly for your figure in order to look stylish, feminine and at the same time feel 100% comfortable. Here's what you should pay attention to when buying a knitted dress:

  1. It is best to choose a dress with a V-shaped neckline, which optically slims the shoulders, lengthens the neck and slightly exposes the bust, while reducing the weight of the upper part of the figure. In addition, styles with a tie on the belt effectively hide the stomach, emphasize the waist, and therefore, even out the proportions of the body.
  2. If you prefer slightly looser, oversized or even flared dresses, there are knitted models for you too. By choosing dresses made of thick yarn, you will be able to hide those areas where you have excess volume, and at the same time you will feel very comfortable.

What to wear knitted dresses?

A knitted dress can be worn in two ways. In combination with opaque tights, it will look very classic. The second option is in combination, for example, with shiny leggings or tight pants (skinny). Then it will act as a comfortable tunic.

Such dresses go well with ankle boots or boots with heels, that is, shoes that are usually worn in the cold season. You can wear heels or ballet flats to the office. The color of the shoes should match the color of the dress. If it is gray, brown or dark blue, then black shoes will be a good choice.

How to care for knitted dresses so that they look like new?

Knowing how to properly care for a knitted dress will save you from having to change your autumn-winter wardrobe literally every season.

How to wash knitted dresses?

Let's start with the most important thing - reading the labels. Always do this because there is no single golden rule that can be applied to every knitwear. But if we are talking about washing knitted dresses made of cotton, synthetics, or mixed fibers, then, as a rule, they can be washed mechanically, that is, in a washing machine. However, do not forget to select the delicate mode and the appropriate temperature (usually between 30 and 40 °C). For washing, instead of powder, it is better to use a product designed for wool or delicate materials.

How to dry knitted dresses?

After washing the knitted dress, you will have to dry it. Unfortunately, this is a bit of a hassle because drying knitwear in tumble dryers is strongly discouraged! Unless… the manufacturer's non-label recommendations say so. But even in this case, you should be very careful.

To make it easier to dry a knitted dress, you can gently spin it in the washing machine (but avoid the highest speed). However, if it is still heavily soaked with water, gently wring it out by hand or dry it with a towel.

After wringing a knitted dress, do not hang it on a hanger. It is best to lay it flat on the dryer and straighten it slightly to get the desired shape. Do not dry knitted items in direct sunlight. Choose a shaded, well-ventilated place for this.

How to iron a knitted dress?

Knitwear is best ironed with a steam iron. A safe and optimal setting would be two dots, i.e. a temperature of about 150 °C. While cotton knitwear, on the other hand, can be ironed at higher temperatures, acrylic knitwear is best not ironed at all (or only on the inside and at low temperatures). If you have an older iron with a worn soleplate, or you know it gets very hot, turn the handle to the lowest temperature to avoid the risk of damaging and weakening the fibers. As with laundry, always read what the manufacturer recommends.
