Motorola has started rolling out the Android 14 update to users Motorola Edge 40 in India. The update, not officially announced by Motorola, was spotted by user X (formerly of Twitter).
This new software package is 1,49GB in size, tagged with firmware version U1TL34.115-13, and is currently rolling out to users in stages. Earlier, Motorola promised two major updates for the device, suggesting that the phone will receive the Android 15 update in the future.
Key features of the Android 14 update
The Android 14 update improves users' control over personal data by allowing better control over permissions for photos, videos, and geo-data sharing. In particular, he introduces:
- Selective media sharing, which allows users to share specific images or videos instead of all media files.
- More information about apps that share location data with third parties and notifications about any changes to data sharing policies.
- Notify users if an unknown Bluetooth tracker is detected moving with them.
- Health Connect integration, offering a centralized place to store health data with control over what data is shared with fitness apps.
- Blinking notifications for incoming notifications with customizable settings for camera backlight, screen backlight, or both, according to Do Not Disturb modes.
The Moto G84 5G recently received the Android 14 update in India, although the rollout was slightly delayed. This indicates that Motorola may start updating other eligible models to Android 14 soon.
