Andriy Kulchytskyi, head of the military research laboratory of the Kyiv Research Institute of Forensic Sciences (KNDISE), said that the Zircon missile, which was used by the terrorist state of the Russian Federation to attack Kyiv on February 7 and March 25, does not fulfill its specified combat mission. In particular, according to him, it "doesn't fly where it should". Andriy Kulchytskyi told about this in a comment to Sospilny after the expert examination of the wreckage.

"The specified missile does not fulfill its combat mission. Everything that is charged, all the characteristics of "super", "hyper" - these are all words, but in reality, there is still a long way to go before the missile can be used in combat. It doesn't fly where it needs to go, it doesn't do the job it's designed for.", - he said.

The expert noted that the Ukrainian air defense system is capable of shooting down "Zirkons". According to Kulchytsky, one of the fragments of the missile hit on March 25 clearly shows that it was shot down by the Patriot system. He added that the warhead of the "Zirkon" contains no more than 40 kilograms of explosives.

"We are still conducting the analysis, we will determine exactly what substance is there. But the combat part is small: the combat part of such missiles as X-101 and X-22 does not come in comparison.", - said the official.

"Zircon" is a Russian anti-ship cruise missile. Moscow has claimed that the Zircon is hypersonic and capable of reaching speeds in excess of Mach 8 (almost 10 kilometers per hour) and avoiding any existing air and missile defense systems. In addition to ships, the missile is capable of hitting ground targets as well.
