Earlier in January this year, we first saw the Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro smartphones in leaked renders. They were shared by reliable whistleblower Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka Onleaks). Now there is a twist to this story. He revealed that the previously leaked standard and pro models will be sold as Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL respectively. The latter would mean the return of the XL moniker, which was last found on the Pixel 4 years ago.

It also raises the question of whether Google will release a standard Pixel 9. The answer seems to be yes, as it has appeared in leaked renders.

According to the leaked renders, the Google Pixel 9 will also share the same design as the Pro and Pro XL variants. It looks compact with a square design and a flat frame. The phone also has curved corners. The power buttons and volume rocker are located on the right side. At the same time, there is a large protruding pill-shaped camera bridge on the back, which does not extend to the corners like its predecessors.

The renders show the Pixel 9 with a display with a notch in the center, surrounded by symmetrical bezels on all sides. The key difference between the standard and pro models is that the former will have a slightly smaller 6,03-inch screen compared to the latter's 6,1 inches. The standard model will also have a dual camera and will not have a periscope lens as seen on the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL.

In terms of dimensions, Onleaks says the Pixel 9 will measure 152,8×71,9×8,5mm and 12mm with a rear camera notch.
