Dog food is divided into several classes, and understanding their differences is the primary task of the owner of a puppy or an adult dog. Find out how the feed of each class differs from this material.
4 classes of dog food: what to choose?
In total, there are 4 classes of dog food: economy, premium, super premium class food for dogs and holistic In short, less reliable and high-quality food is economy-class food, and the best is holistic food. And what about the rest of the so-called "middle" classes?
Economy class
These are most often unbalanced rations, in which only 4-6% meat products (note - not meat). They are made on a vegetable basis with the addition of a small percentage of meat production waste. Moreover, not only skin and offal can be used, but even horns, hooves and diseased organs. And the first places in this composition are occupied by cereals - most often corn, soy, wheat, starch and cellulose. Of course, all this is "seasoned" with various synthetic preservatives, flavors and taste enhancers.
Important! Does your dog not eat expensive food? If before that she was fed economy food, she is so used to taste enhancers and aromatic additives that natural food seems fresh and tasteless to her.
At the same time, it is economy feed that is widely advertised, but in fact, for the same money, you can buy a good premium feed from a little-known company.
Premium class
These feeds are already better than the economy option, but they are inferior to the higher classes. They contain up to 30% meat, fewer synthetic components, higher digestibility. Also, among premium feeds, you can already find lines for animals with special needs and even preventive compositions.
Super premium class
This is the "golden middle" of all four classes, because it is already healthy balanced feed. Professional breeders choose precisely such feed (when there are many animals, holistic feed is expensive, and premium is significantly inferior in quality).
These foods can be fed to a dog on a regular basis - they contain animal protein obtained not from cereals, but from meat and offal of good quality. Of course, the composition contains the vitamin and mineral complex necessary for the animal.
Holistic
These foods contain only meat and nothing but meat - byproducts are excluded. Berries and fruits are added to the composition as sources of vitamins. These are completely organic compositions created from ingredients that are acceptable for human consumption.
Knowing how food differs by class, it will be easier for you to choose food for your dog - you only have to decide on the line and taste.
